It's been a month, and boy have I been busy with everything BUT GenePool and smallthingsclay!
Life is what happens when you are busy making plans.
First we built a fence. Fearless DIY for first time home owners! I think we were very successful.
This is a Cedar fence that ended up needing a retaining wall due to the erosion at the end of our lot. Duly note, do NOT use levels if you are not ready for the truth. Oh SURE it may LOOK level, but if that bubble says no it isn't. No, it ain't. So the fence was 7 weekends plus inserted week nights.
As you can see we still have landscaping to do. No worries, Mamossa Ground Cover and Sand Dune Daisies will get the job done. So, while we were finishing up the fence, which by the way we built because we want to buy a boat but we couldn't see putting the boat behind the old fence...
because this was the old fence and this is sad. But I digress.
During the final touches to the new fence, I fell in love with a little cockatiel at the pet store whilst buying the dogs their treats and eats. Meet Stella.
Well Stella is such a lover and so sweet and quiet and awesomely cute that my husband wanted a friend for Stella. Again back to the same store and low and behold!
Meet Duncan, he's Stella's new buddy. The are inseparable, call to each other and share everything. At this point we were enjoying our two cockatiels and the flock is happy. We decided we needed better accommodations for them (well more like more cages for upstairs and downstairs) so back to the pet store, only this pet store was the larger of the two of this local franchise. We'd never been there.
Low and behold....
Meet Kirby. We brought him home at 5 weeks. We are abundance weaning him right now and he's growing like a weed. He is an Indian Ringneck Parakeet. He likes his pellets soaked in warm filtered water lightly sauteed with sugar free applesauce, mashed potatoes, millet, bananas, and baby food of course. Go to YouTube and check out some videos of these birds. They are AWESOME birds. Kirby is already doing simple tricks and tasks and loves foraging.
So basically we are an aviary with a new fence!
And I JUST started creating again, as I've got a jungle gym set up for the cockatiels in my studio while I work. Of course Stella would rather be on my art table. So if you should purchase a smallthingsclay and find cockatiel toe prints on them....blame Stella.
I'll have new pieces to post in a week!
